what kind of fish is this?

some asian cyprinid, probably a kind of large barb. theres a lot of barbs that look similar but im pretty sure that isnt a bala shark or a tinfoil. still pretty cool though, how do they taste?
i eat it often growing up in china. not as often anymore after moving to the US. they go pretty good with rice.
are they a freshwater fish?
Yeah looks like it. I've eaten some kind of chinese carp or barb before with rice and it was delicious. might have even been the same fish!
