What kind of JD?

Hi guys, what kind of Jack Dempsey do I have? I got for ten bucks off craigs list. Hes about 4-5in. I thought he was a regular dempsey but not sure if hes a EBJD or BGJD or just a blue gene carrier? IDK because hes the first I have owned. Need some expert advice. Thanks guys!

Looks like a normal Dempsey to me, not that there's anything wrong with that

Great thanks guys! it just looks alot more sparkly/colorful then the ones that are more brown at the lfs. Must just found a good one. How you tell female?

Mine does have black spot near the tail although hard to see from the picture. Is that characteristic of a male?

Agree with above, standard JD female, good looking fish by the way! Sexing is done via the bearding/spangling on the gill plate.

It's a regular female. Females have splotchy spangles on their chins like a beard. Males don't have chin spangles at all.

There's no physical difference between a regular jd and a bgjd.
