I currently have a 50 gallon tank. its about 48x13(ish). im not sure of the exact measurement because im not sure where to start measuring and where to stop.
anywho, its about 13 inches and i wanted to get a lid. im looking for a lid with a light in it and a lid so i can replace my current glass lid. i have a sump filter hanging in the back so i would need a lid with enough room for it.

i found 2 lids, but which one should i, or do i need to get?

depends what fish will be in there. Anything that will jump you will need a full cover. Cover 1 is great, in my opinion. #2 is a neon ballast, not a lid. Which means you will need a plexiglass or glass cover on the tank. With glass/plexiglass cover, any fish a little large could kick it, so you need a weight on it.

I would go with #1. Less trouble :)

Option 1 is a hood and Option 2 is a light. Option 1 is fine but it depends what you are going for. If your looking for a matching hood and you want it to look sleek and clean then get the hood. If not then go with glass tops and a single tube flourescent light on top. That light that you are looking at is nice but not necessary. You can get buy with one bulb. But this is all personal preference.

will Option 1 have enough room for my filter in the back?

im planning on having red bellies most likely. but i currently have a school of tiger barbs and albino barbs and feeder gold fish. i want to get some plants for my fish so i thought i would be needing the light eitherway.

do you guys leave the light on even at night? or only at night?

and um, when changing water for the first time, how much water should you change and do you have to add the No-chlorine drops or just plain tap into the tank to refill it? and whats the best method to replace the water if you dont have a pump.

go 2 the hardware store and have a piece of plexiglass cut to fit tank much cheaper and just put a ballast over it goodluck

about how much would the plexiglass cost?
i wanted to do something like this from the start. having a custom case, but i had no clue on how to do it and did not know where to get any of the supplies.

so i should go with Option #2 and get a custom cut plexiglass? what about an opening to drop some food in and stuff?

If the price difference is minute, i think i'll just go with Option #1.
