What kind of lighting for my 55g saltwater?

I have been pricing some light holders for my saltwater tank setup and they are not cheap. I am wondering if i were to pick up 2 goose neck lamps what wattage of lightbulb should i use? Should i use white light or the new spiral bulbs?

If all else fails should i, for the health of the tank (to be) should i use the T5s?

Try t-5's. Do an awesome job on my reef. To stay cheep just use shoplight with numerous options

So if i use a spot light would i need to use 2 of them on either side of the tank? or on just one side?

I have used all of these to a good extent except rapid (planning to do so in future)

I run all my systems on MH with some supplementation. Right now coming from some VHO.
