Hi,

I bought this Newt as a paddle tail newt. He's about 5-6 inches long and appears to be fully aquatic. Though I was told he needs land or access to air. At the LFS he was completely in water swimming around. Heres some pics of the Newt:

looks like an unhealthy paddle tail newt..i am no expert though..if it is a paddle tail..it's suppose to be dark brown with redish/orange bottom

Yes it is darker, but the light is real bright. Whats the scientific name? What can you tell me about this guy? Max size? Fully aquatic? No?

They don't "need" land but it should be provided in case they do decide to haul out. They love to escape though so be careful.

I like I like... did you get that at Aquatic Warehouse in San Diego?? They had some there a couple days ago when I was there. I don't remember what it was labeled as though... it was too expensive and would probably eat my danio's.

Hope you figure it out.

+2..from what i heard...they reach a foot max'd out..i couldn't feed mine anything when i had them..not even frozen bloodworms..so i read online that you can give them earthworms..they like it when they're food's moving..but not too fast..ex. goldfish/rosy minnow..anyways..after a while i bought these "newt pellets" that didn't work so don't buy them..i got the "Hikari sinking carnivore" and they loved eating those..maybe it's the smell?:screwy:but yeah i dont have them anymore..i upgraded:grinno: haha to an axolotl:naughty:

Newts LOVE those reptile sticks.

They can be kept with fish about the same size and are not really aggressive they just eat anything small enough. They should actually have 20 gallons but can survive in 10.
