Just picked up this peacock bass for 6 bucks. Quite a steal if I may say so myself. It was listed as Lukini at petland for 45 bucks. When I asked the unknowledgable employee how much the fish was he said it was a stripped raphael and it was listed for $5.88. I immediately jumped on it! I know what your going to say but I just could not turn down the deal. Well I was wondering what kind of bass it was and what I should feed him? Hes about 4" and very colorful. I have it with other large south american cichlids like geophagus, angelfish and severum. There is also a 8" aro and a 7" red tail cat.

What do you think?

either mono or occel...leaning toward mono...and that is a steal of a price u got with the gold all over him!!!! id watch out for the RTC though he might eat him.

looking kinda mono to me nice fish. hey but watch the cat

Mono! AWESOME PRICE.... As stated though watch that cat... (i have lost a few peacocks to some hungry RTCxTSN's that were only 2 inches larger than the peacocks)...

Thanks for the quick replies. I am very excited to have one for that price and its so beautiful! I will do some research on the 'mono'.

Good Catch...it will become a beauty soon. Bass can grow pretty fast and aggressive too. Feed with shrimp or feeder fish, don't think it will take pellets.

does anyone else think this is a brokopondo? ive been doing research and thats whats it looks most like

I really dont think so. It looks like a standard Paru Mono... That being said, Peru monos ARE BEAUTIFUL fish when they grow out.
