Mine is the class clown of the tank but can also be a bully, he can be playful and at times he can be annoying to others all day long. i enjoy watching him out of all my fish at times he think he gets bored and starts to redecorate the tank which i don't mind but yuh he's a character.

Im thinking of getting another auratus. Had one a long time ago, messed up my severum who was a lot bigger pretty good. Got his confidence up and attacked my red devil. Didnt end so well for the auratus.

mine were the tough but mind their own business kind of fish. were the first to give a beatdown to any new fish even my male auratus. the male took over in a few days. now the male is the tough but mind his own business kind of fish.
my auratus only interacts with auratus. got 5 more juvenile auratus. they like to chase each other around.

i have a 2 1/2 incher that killed a new 3 1/2 ice blue zebra. never bothered the 1in. yellow lab and denasoni that i put in a few weeks before though. hes picky with his tank mates i guess

I don't have any for a reason. The ones I've had in the past were di*ks.

yuh i happened to see some wild and crazy ones in the store and im talking even crazy when in the tank on its own. i see the same full grown auratus in the store going on like 3 months now. i usually visit a fish few times when i like it a lot before i buy it cause im tired of wasting money. right now i have 1-3" auratus and a small .5"er and they both are funny. when i put a new tank mate in hes the first to chase it around for hrs moves all the rocks around and likes to zoom up and down the corner of the tank

My g/f had one in a 75 and it killed off a few cichlids. Instantly put it in the tank and it got to a territory and harassed all the new fish. It sucked. THen it turned all black and just went on a killing spree.

I hated that fish so much. When I used to work at petsmart I would never sell them. People would want them for their 30 gallon cichlid tanks and I would just try to persuade them not to. I talked to a marine biologist who named some 250+ of the psuedotropheus species and he said that when they would get them from the wild (aurutus) they would just hammer the females when they woudl try to breed them. He said if you got them from different lakes and one would do a shaking dance one way and the other did it the other direction then the male would just kill her almost instantly.

My experience is that mine have been one of the top dogs and they fight anyone who trys to come to close. When ever I tried to add a new female, it turns out to be a male and kills the older male. I have 135 and can only have one... does not bug females of others at all...

mine is black and purple with yellow trim around all the fins, come night time he is a nipper my front had nips in the fin today i can only blame the auratus if i see any more nips out of my front im going to give the auratus a new home alright
