Can anyone tell me what kind of pleco this is? I rescued it from my friend, I think he was neglected, he was in a 10g and maybe was fed once a week, flakes only. I don't know much about plecos. I would like to know, the species, how big this guy gets, and what they eat. I now have him in a 55g, and I'm giving him algae wafers. Thanks!!:)

The dietary thread will answer many of your questions, and it is a Glyptoperichthys gibbiceps.

There is a guy called NELLY on this board who has a 26inch Gibby, so with that a 55G is no way a good tank size for life.

wow nice pleco. i have two of them in my 125 gal tank. they are picky eaters i think, mine wont eat squash or store bought shrimp, but they love eating cantaloupe and algae wafers. i think i want to try to feed them sinking carnivore delight from hikari. maybe they would like it. oh well just gotta try it out and see.
