Anyone know what kind of pleco this is? All the other plecos in the tank were real dark, almost black except for this one. He looked healthy so I bought him. He's about 7 inches long and now lives with my Managuense and a stiped raphael. At first my Jag didn't know what to think about him but now he just totaly ignores him.

looks like it could be a cross, hard to tell. Looks like it has some gibbiceps in it, but doesn't look like a pure gibbiceps. There are lots of commons and unfortunately lots of crosses with them.

Its a sail fin. It doesn't look the best but I've seen them look like this several times. http://www.scotcat.com/loricariidae/glyptoperichthys_gibbiceps.htm He is still rather young. Petco sells them under the name butterfly pleco. He may be a cross but I doubt it. I bought a sail fin one time in a tank full of commons.
It has a very odd head pattern, especially for a 7 incher. Look at the photos in the link and you'll see what i mean. Hybrids are about more than you think. But like i said, could be wrong, it is very stressed in the pics.

I've had him for about a week now in this tank. He has darkened up a little. My jag has no interest in him so I don't think he's too stressed anymore.
