What kind of pleco is this

Mine specialises in laying around the tank waiting to be fed, and pooping :D

They will eat algae when they are smaller, but as they grow bigger it seems like it's a lot of work for a small amount of food :confused:

Feed them on a mix of fresh veges and sinking pleco tablets with a bit of meaty food occasionally. Too much high protien food can give them digestive problems and they die of bloat :eek:

You can expect them to live 15 or more years and grow to 12-18", thats why they get a section on MFK ;)

They are good tankmates with most other fish, except for really aggressive cichlids or piranha, and wont hassle smaller fish. (Mine lives with a tankfull of male guppies ;) ) They may fight with other similar sized plecos, but if the tank is big enough they can work out their differences.
