Just picked up at my lfs for $30.

Did i get a good deal? is it a sengal? he is about 10"

Yup it's a male senegal and you probably paid a little more but it's not a total rip off. They're good starting bichirs. What they lack in the looks department they make up for in activity level and personality. And they max about a foot.

Awesome that is the way my fire eel is. I hope he does good. He has not eaten yet but I only have had him for 4 hours

Not a rip-off at the size you got him. Nice, it would take some time to get to that size if you got a smaller one. Growth after 8-9" is slow.
