is it better to use an external pump or submersible? Im not sure whats out there for this

is a submersible pond pump good to use for a sump? a 1000gph submersible pond pump with flow regulator was what i was going to use it costs 100$ is that cheap and efficient? compared to other pumps? i know it sort of depends on what im doing, but over kill is ok incase i want to link tanks to the sump later.

There are external pumps that are very energy efficient. But you need to drill hole in the sump to hook it up I wouldn't regulate the pump you will burn it out prematurely. If you had to reduce flow into tank, put a tee on pump with a ball valve and dump water directly back into sump to recirculate if if you needed to slow down flow . I run submersibles. I like them. They're pretty quiet. I had external little giant pumps too but switched over to supreme hy-drives
