what kind of pump?

i'm about to pick up a new 250gal tank.
it has a sump with powerheads. i've been told that powerheads are not well suited to pumping the water back up into the tank. I'm willing to get a pump if that would be , but i dont know what to get. what gph do i need?

please help me figure out what to get.

I'd go for a mag 12 or maybe a mag 18

I haven't been able to test exactly how accurate this calculator is yet but it's worth a peek. It computes the flow for different pumps for you based on your plumbing.
