I am setting up a reef tank and i am trying to findout what kind of sand you use. I have found this guy who sells aragonite sand and his company is zoosands but i want to know if this is good? He has different sizes what size do you recomend he has 1/12", 1/15" and 1/20" wich one will be better? Please help i dont want to spend a whole lot since i will need a lot of it. He quoted me at .45c per pound.

Caribben sea sand

reef grade aragonite.

PFS FOR WIN!!

I went with marco rocks sugar sized grain sand.

I might have gone with a larger grain size if I had known that my lawnmower would dance in the sand and kick it everywhere. Thats almost a daily routine for him.

Aragonite/calcium carbonite based sand is the way to go for saltwater aquariums. Grain size is preference, and while I am hesitant to say it, stay away from sugar sized grain sand.

what do you guys think about this guy zoo sands he says its a aragonite but i am not sure what his deal is. does that sound right as far as the price?

I used every type of bio-active sand on the market right now, and let me tell you, don't waste the money. It just made the tank dirty for days. I wish i had gone with dry agronite to be totally honest. Atleast i could have rinsed it.

As far as the price on the zoosands, I'm not sure about the product or the price. Is it dry? if it is then i would say the price is a little high because my local petco's have a 30 lbs. bag of dry agronite sand for somewhere around 7.99.

I used caribsea ocean direct indo-pacific black and love it so far. I've never heard of zoosands, though.
