What kind of Silicone??

I need to make a minor repair at the top of my tank. I purchased GE Silicone II from Home Depot. Will This be safe?

I wouldn't use it. I only use GE I, but I even had an issue with that recently.

Is the "top of the tank" exposed to water? If so I would not use GEII at all. Been there done that with terrible results myself..

I've used GE I for years with no issues. Same as the pet shops, just not marked up price wise. GE II never again.

I'd either use GE I silicone, or silicone from the pet store. I definitely wouldn't use the GE II silicone as it contains an anti-mildew agent that can leech into the water.

GE II will kill your fish--I know from experience with my 3D background projects.

GE I clear window and door is what you want.
