I found this snail and decided I would take it out before it got big enough to reproduce and put him in my 10 gallon to see how big I can grow him to. I was just wondering what kidn of snail he is. Probably just a pond snail though because he came in with a pickerel that I just got.

Thanks

Chad

Not really sure, but I have a lot of them. Does yours have a black foot? As far as I have seen mine only get to be around 1/2" long at max.

No his foot seems to be more of a flesh color I think....Maybe skipjack will know since he gave them to me:irked:! Hahaha

Interesting thing is I don't know where mine came from. I transfered a piece of wood from one tank, and a few plants from another, all my own tanks. All of a sudden the new snail tank, that only has ramshorn snails in it, had an outbreak. Neither of the other tanks have these snails though.

can take a while for them to hatch and or establish a presence, you havent had your new plants for that long. those snails ive had before (or something looks identicle) and they never did anything. my yoyos eventually irradicated them

No, the plants were gone over very carefully to check for snails. There were none on them. Also, the plants that went into the 135 went in after the plants that went to the L200 tank were moved. So no chance of snails jumping plants.

The only time I have ever come across snails like those is when I bought some plants from Walmart and stuck them in my sons tank and before I knew it I had about 200 snails in his tank. I moved the plants, thinking I had all the eggs off of them into my Oscars tank and I see them in there every now and then. But my O's pretty much take care of them for me. I have heard they are Malaysian Trumpet Snails. Not sure though.

No MTS are the ones that are a kind of spiral cone....
