Excluding barebotton, what would you use ?

I would definitely use smooth river rocks as my subtstrate or natural colored pebbles. This would really look as natural as possible and looks cool.

I think i have had enough of sand. Cleaning sand is not an easy task and all the hassle associated with it is just too much for me. I absolutely hate sand in my filters.

natural colord peblems with smooth river rock is nice and some bog wood :)

medium grain gravel, rocks, and plants in pots.

unno bout you wes but i love my sand

better than gravel, much easier to clean :grinyes:

I brought home some beach glass from a trip to northern cali.would love it if I had enough to do a tank

I have a tank with all black polished river rocks... looks cool! But i'm about to set up a tank with sand as substrate... i heard that it is a lot easier to clean!:)

i use crushed coral for my 75 *sigh*, and a mix of sand and gravel for the 350.

only sand for me i will not go back to gravel.
the only problem i see with sand is i have to remove about 5gals of water everyday/everyother day to remove the unsightly crap.
it only takes a few minutes though.

Right now i have black gravel....Deadly stuff! its about 6mm stuff but its soooo sharp!
I think im going to change to nice river pebbles, 1cm round or so, with the light and dark ones, nice natural colour.

Also i like how some aros have very white fine sand...im not sure i want to put in my aro tank....Rocks or sand lol, but the black gravel has to go!
