I find these tree frogs all over my house in the summer just wondering if anyone knows what they are...pretty cute!

Yep, that's the northern or tetraploid gray treefrog, Hyla versicolor. Its visually identical diploid cousin, H. chrysoscelis, doesn't occur in Ontario.

H. versicolor has a pretty trill, somewhat like the warbling call of a screech owl. If you scroll down to the H. versicolor account on this page you can find an audio file.

Excellent. I kept an H. chrysoscelis for about five years, and they can live much longer than that. They are hardy and can thrive in a simple setup. Males will sing in the tank, especially at night. If you want to have a silent all-female tank, you can identify females by their white throats; the males' throats appear gray due to the folded vocal sac being visible through the skin.

ok very cool...but I suppose in my situation if I get sick of the singing I can let it go haha...assuming it is summer

Actually...you shouldn't do that. There's a sticky on the topic somewhere around here, but the gist is, once you take it home, it's yours forever.

The main reason is that animals can pick up exotic diseases in captivity, and if they are released, carry those diseases to the wild populations. This is especially a concern with amphibians; captive Xenopus are thought to be a major vector of Bd, and some extremely virulent strains of Ranavirus have showed up in bullfrog breeding operations.

Plus, it's illegal!
