hey guys

a local fish dealer is selling this as a wild catfish. The problem is he has no idea what it is,all he knows is that its "wild", aggressive, and is about 8" long now. Would anybody be able to help?wild cat1.JPGwildcatfish 2.jpg

yup a vulture cat. I heard they are very aggresive.

Agree with the ID for sure. This one cannot be mistaken. They do have a bad rep historically but it appears a vast majority of keepers (me included) find them peaceful in properly sized and set-up tanks.

A few threads that may help:

They do grow to the abouts of 2'.

If he is less than $40 or so, it'd be a steal.

Idk about the aggressive part, they definitely have the tools but not the attitude. I had two and sold one and both were kept in communities and never had any aggression. My current one at 14-16 inches is the largest in my 180g and I have'nt had an issue. From time to time he nips my curupira, but most of the time the curupira punks him out.

Nice specimen of a vulture at that. How much is your guy asking for him?

By at least 2 times. I bought mine two from Amazon Tropicals on-line for $55 each at ~8" each.
