I collect most of my own wood and use those procedures. In most cases, it is absolutely fine, but there are certain tree species that are not suitable for a number of reasons. A few days simply wont be enough time for a negative effect to manifest. It is hard to tell from a photo, but if you can figure out the kind of wood then we will be able to give you a better response. In most cases, wild one is still aging and that will cause a white bacterial growth to grow as it feeds on the sugars still present on the wood. The bacteria is harmless, though it will look unsightly. Plecos or similar fish will feed upon the growth and get rid of it for you until the sugars are depleted and the it stops growing. Without knowing the type of wood, there isnt much more to know
