what kind should i get

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
3, maybe 5 pygos max in a 90....Most likely you'll be upgrading, so start off with 10 or 12 dimers.....90% of all pygo setups do start off in 60g or less....And end up in 120's or longer.....

As for serras, I never had one....But sounds like a 90g would be nice for a single serra(for life)....I was thinking of adopting a black, but once I heard how slow these guys grow, I pretty much tunrned away from the opportunity and went full hardcore on Pygo....

If you want something mean you're buying piranhas for the wrong reason and will be eventually dissapointed.. Mean is something that kills out of spite and doesn't care how big you are, not because it's hungry and thinks you're the weakest link.

There are some serras that will fit in a 90gall. However, remember that all serras have to be kept solo, this means just one fish in that tank. In addition, a rhom (black piranha) will be grow to big for a 90gall for life...

If i were you, start off in the piranha hobby like most others do. Go with red bellies.
If you have good filtration, you can have 5 in there...

You can definatly keep ANY serra for life in a 90g. Yes rhoms and mannys may grow up to 18" in the wild but good luck getting them that big in the home aquarium!

I think your best bet would be a trio of P. Caribe!

I would go with a jumbo rhom of any variety(black, highback, diamond,xingu,ect......) Something like that would make your tank look like a showpiece.

the term "jumbo" usually is applied to rhoms 15"+ a 90g has the same footprint as a 75, 48"x18" so a "jumbo" rhom of any variety will not work.

and to respond to the topic starter, i agree with the three Pygocentrus Caribe. but keep in mind piranhas dont live up to thier reputation of being maneaters.
