What kinds of fish make a Flowerhorn?

What kinds of cichlids,and how many generations would it take to make a descent flowerhorn?

I don't want to,I'm just curious of the number of fish,and the time invlolved.

There are so many different kinds,so lets just say a red dragon.

Anybody know??

I don't know how many generations it took. No one but the people who made them and people they told know the answer. I can list a few of the fish that was probably used in the making of FH.
Trimac
Lyonsi
Synspilum
Texas
Red Devil
Other vieja and amphilophus
and more were probably used in the making FH. Selctive breeding also played a major role of the creation of FH.

This would give a brief description. But remember that it takes years of breeding to create certain strain. It is not a 1 time breeding thing.
