hey everyone
i have a 140g containing 1 blue acara 1 severum 1 featherfyn synodontis 2 keyhole cichlids and 1 senegal. i am interested in getting a knife fish to complete my stock list and would like to know which knife to get

Afican knives love to eat feeders if u like entertainment every once in a while not too personable though. BKGs are very personable and if big enough probably eat feeders as well. they probably wont have any trouble with other fish as they are only aggressive towards other knifes. If you want a beastly knife and have some ungodly sized tank you can get a clown knife which get about 3feet from what ive heard.

Now, I have no experience with any of those fish in your tank (unless you mean "senegal" as in senegal bichir), but I'd say that your best bet is to get either a african black/brown Knifefish or a black ghost knifefish. They're readily available and also happen to be easy to care for. African knifes only get 6-8" though, so if you're looking for something larger, I'd get a black ghost knifefish.

The other African knife species, Papyrocranus afer, is bigger and more aggressive, but not as big and bad as a Clown or Royal, if you want something a bit larger. The Asian Bronze knife, Notopterus notopterus is cool too (and cheaper/easier to find). Both species get to a maximum of 60cm, although 30-40 is likely in an aquarium.
