I have two questions. I plan on setting up a planted 75 gal and am starting to research plants, needs etc. Based on what I am reading on some of these threads I am guessing I should start with low to medium light plants and lighting since I wont be using CO2. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what light strip I should buy?
I am thinking that whatever I get should have t5ho lights. I am not sure of the total wattage I need. Would 2 watts per gal be too much? I may want to add CO2 at a later time which would allow me to add more intense lighting in the future but I am not sure yet.

Definitely T5HO. 2wpg would be plenty for most plants you'll find at the LFS. Any more light than that & you'll probably have to look at CO2 to keep the algae under control.

Any suggestions as to a decent light strip and T5HO combo to buy that would give me aproximately 2 watts per gallon and where to buy it?

and get the 108 watt t5ho fixture with plant specific bolbs. Then later when you get co2. Get another 108wt t5ho.

What I would get would be a 4x 65 watt power compact fixture with 6700k bulbs.. And unplug 2 of them until you get some co2.

That would have him set for awhile! Great idea.

Thanks, I agree the four bulb strip is the way to go. I can add light as I need it and I will have a good distribution of light across the tank by spacing out the two intially.
