I have read on here lots about lighting but cannot find what im looking for. I am going to get some lights today and im on a small budget. i am going to get a shop light that holds two bulbs. but im not sure on the bulbs i should get. im thinking i should get a warm white and cool white as the warm is low in kelvins and the cool is higher in kevins. I have gold severums and i want them to look good. should i get two of the same bulbs? if so, which ones? or should i get 2 different bulbs that are opposite in kevins to cover a more wider spetrum? ( i want to show the reds in the fish) substrate is white.

Have you any plants in the tank? If you have any warm white bulbs are necessery, if not try to use two (or more) different bulbs 6500 K in front and 4000 K in rear place.

I prefer to have daylight (6500 K) or very cool (10000K) bulb in front because in this light fish shines good especially blue spots. Rear lamp, as for me, must be more warm. In cause you have any plants optimal case is 2700-3200 K. Without plants 4000 (4100) K will be more acceptable because algae grows reducing in cooler light.
P.S. Try to use bulbs with higher CRI (Color rendering index). For example in Philips, GE or OSRAM bulbs 865 (6500K) or 840 ( 4000K)
