i have aqua-glo lights on my small tanks which brings out the white very nicely on the pdr's.

on my big tank i just have reg 4' shop lights, which looks more like a sunlight color and dosnt do my rays colors any justice.

any good 4' light bulbs that would make my pdr's colors stand out better? what do u use?

I think the brand is coralife or something like that, but just regular bulbs (or even plant bulbs) do fine. I use color covers for the lights on the fish tanks, and it looks awesome. Blue, green, and orange look especially cool with Potamotrygon leopoldi, but I wouldn't go for any long-term exposure.

6700k is perfect ;)

Suiting question because I have just been experimenting.

I went with aquaglos, then aquaglo/powerglo combos, then just powerglos and finished off with a 50/50 powerglow marine glo combo.

You need the actinics the get the black out of the rays also I found with the higher yellow lights you see more food particles and such that the actinic will blend a bit. I guess it is personal preference but the powerglo/ actinic combo works very well for my black rays.

great info guys, thanks very much. im gonna try a few different ones...

I will try but I will have to get Scott or Lyder over to my house as it is very common knowledge I take the crappiest pictures known to man!!

Also I will mention regadless of what anyone says that best lights for rays are t-8 cheap Imo they give off the most light of any pc, or t5 set up out there.

I love the look of single point lights.( i.e. halogen or metal halide.) They reflect off the ripples on the surface of the water and create the cool shimmering look of the bottom of a pool in summer. I would look into a couple of 150w double ended or 175w single ended 10k metal halides for your tank.
