What makes your fish show their best colors?

I was curious about what everybody does to bring out the best colors in their CA/SA cichlids. I would like to hear about your lighting, substrate, decor, backgrounds, specific combinations or a particular species, solo or in groups, anything you do to get the best colors out of your fish. A brightly colored fish is comfortable in its environment. Pictures are welcomed!

Quality food
Week long fasts every now and again
=Good husbandry
=vibrant, horny fish

groups(males and females)
quality foods(variety of foods not just pellets)
