What matters in a aquarium photography cameras?

Higher megapixels (anything above 6) will not really help much on a typical point and shoot and may in fact reduce image quality due to increased noise. Sensor size and the potential for a large aperature are the main things that will help you get better low light performance (which is useful for aquarium photography).

Don't be fooled by megapixel count.

Megapixels require lots of light to produce a good image. If you cram 10 MP on a sensor that is the same size as the one using 6 MP, the megapixels on the 6MP sensor get better light and will technically make better images. Almost all sensors in point n' shoots are the same size.

Now if you plan on printing your pics at 24" x 30" on a regular basis, then the 10MP will do just a slightly better job than the 6MP.

I have both ditgal & 35MM cameras. The 35MM gives a lot better picture any day. The only draw back is you have to wait to develope the film. I myself feel the the wait is well worth it.
The ditgal cameras are good if you need to get a photo quick. Or if you are only going to post them on line.
I do agree that the sensor is more important then megapixel on point and shoot ditgal camers.

Its all about megapixels, if you don't have them you are a goner.

I have a Nikon f50 sitting in my closet that is as old as me, it is 35mm and looks great, but the batteries are expensive and really my main use for this camera will to upload pictures to my computer. A film camera is virtually useless to me
