I plan on buying an FX5 tomorrow..
Now, i've heard TOO many different things for media options that i'm clueless on what I should get..

Most common things I hear are bio balls, ceramic bio balls (not sure if they're any different then bio balls), ammonia remover, polishing pads, and the seachem matrix(probably spelled that wrong)..

What would you guys recommend for each basket/layer? and please specify which basket/layer you're referring to when you're answering

Thanks for any help that you guys give!

Well the outer sponge pads that come with the unit is what i recommend. But for the baskets I use Eheim bio media.

Where are you getting yours??? I just paid $211 on amazon for mine! That a lot of filter for the money. That's less that a 406 at petco. Its going on a salt tank so I'm using it for it's mechanical filtration and I can put carbon, phosphate pads and ammonia removers in the middle bits. But that's for salt not fresh. Sorry to ramble on. I'm just excited about my new setup. It's sweet!!

Will these work? Is that what you guys are referring too?
If link doesn't work, then they are " Fluval Biomax Bio Rings - 500 grams/17.63 ounces"..
Also, 500 grams will fill each basket, correct? So I'd need to order a total of 1500 grams?

Thanks for all the help!

Also, are "scrubbies" the wash things that most women use in the shower?
