Here's some pics of a wet/dry I just picked up craigslist.

What would be the best media to use and the best places to put the media in my new wet/dry.

I just threw some bioballs in there just to see how they look in there, let me know if they should go somewhere else

Thanks for any Ideas!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

weird ass looking w/d

Not much room for biomedia is there? I'd go with scrubbies...spongy type pads, a bag or two of some lava rock or glass rings.

Good luck.:D

Thats more of a refugium type system designed to use with live sand. In general they are a lot more complicated...flow wise...than a simple W/D sump. Rally can probubly tell you a lot more about it than I can.

Salt set up :) Like wolf said mroe of a refugium.

Freshwater is much simpler :) My opinion

Yet it can still be used...just requires a little bit of creativity and ingenuity. :naughty:

Agreed.. you can still change the flow rate :D

Might be a better idea to work out an exchange deal with a reef keeper. You could probubly come away with the bio-media and even a return pump...That brand is highly thaugh of and its very well built/ It would be a shame to chop it up just to use as a sump.

Post the pics in the salt water section and see whos intrested...

Nice find.

First rule...when you get a good deal you gotta tell us how much :D.

Ok, put a filter sock where the bio-balls are, place the bio-balls (or scrubbies or both) under it.

Second chamber (from left) scrubbies / plants (if you want to light it).

Third chamber put the egg crate in and open cell sponge on top.

Skinny chamber is for bubble elimination (S/W tanks)

Last chamber holds the return pump.

Now please tell me that pump set-up in the backgroung of the third pic isn't the return pump.

It's a start anyway :D.

I would pretty much fill it with bags of ceramic rings and eheim substrat pro... use filter socks and would work good... best bet would be to trade for a wet/dry though
