my male elongatus killed one female and made the second one look like a zombie. he bit most of her face off. i caught her and she is in a hospital tank. what i need to know is if there is a good medicine to treat wounds of this sort. thanks in advance for any help

I'd start by separating it from the other fish, then make sure the water quality is perfect...if you must add anything, then maybe salt or melafix to help

i added salt and put her in a tank by herself. i was just trying to see if there was another good treatment for wounds. other han looking like an undead fish, she seems pretty strong

thanks. i hope i found her in time. he has a NASTY set of teeth on him. i should have replaced the other female when she died so he wouldn't focus so much on her.

just focus on keeping the water clean and preventing any more damage. That will help keep infection away

:iagree: Water changes alone should be sufficient enough.

I try not to medicate my fish unless absolutely neccessary. Bump the temp up a lil to increase metabolism. Keep the water crystal clean. And maybe add a little salt. Stress Coat has aloe in it and can help wounds to heal. Keep a close eye on her to make sure an infection doesnt develop. Then you may have no choice but to medicate.

I agree w/meds. as last resort. Up the temp. a little and keep the water changes daliy if necessary.
