We're currently moving and i'm just gaugeing (hope i spelled that right) my options. So i was wondering what i could do with a 20 gallon tall tank thanks for any help
Their are many small native fish that would work in a 20 gallon. Pygmy Sunfish, dace, darters, shiners, madtoms, killies, flagfish, mudminnows, bluespotted and banded sunfish.
Ufortunately I only have a 20 gallon tall, Those are interesting I guess I'm just gonna research some of these along with some other options that other members have suggested. By the way is it very difficult to keep native I've only kept Piranha, Community fish, and South american cichlids in my lifetime.
Many of them are no different than tropical fish other than not needing a heated tank. If you collect them yourself, or get them wild-caught from someone else, getting them off live food may be somewhat of a challenge, but shouldn't be too bad. If they are tank raised, then they should be no trouble
In a 20 Tall, I would stay away from shiners and dace, just based on how active they like to be.
If you are catching your own, try to take home the smaller ones. The smaller fish are much easier to get on pellets than large fish. Even my tiniest Killies took Hikari Micro Pellets within a day of being in the tank.
