I currently have a 55 gallon tank, fully planted with community fish. I would like to re scape and restock this tank a bit. I can't go any bigger unfortunately right now.

I love monster fish, and have had large cichlids, bichirs, clown knife, large black ghost knife in the past and I miss them. But obviously I can't have any of those now.

The stock that I will have left in the tank will be;

Large female veil-tail angelfish
3 Blue Rams
3 Bristlenose plecos
1 L200 pleco
1 small Black Ghost Knife (they take so long to grow I'm not really worried about this guy, by then I may be able to get a larger tank)

The thing is, other than the angelfish all these other guys hide all the time. I want some activity in the tank and am looking for some suggestions on if there are any neat oddballs that could go with this stock. Filtration is a Rena XP3 and AC70.

If you got a larger group of rams they might stake out territories and be more interesting

Just so ya know, you're gonna have to provide supplemental food for those plecos. 1 female BN will keep a 55g clear of algae.

They aren't rare, but I consider glass catfish to be oddballs. They should work with your stock until the knife gets too large.

My plecos do a terrible job of algae cleaning. In fact I even tried feeding them nothing to see if they would start doing their jobs, but nope. But anyway I am well aware of the needs of my plecos and they are well taken care of. I am not too big on glass cats but thank you for the suggestion. I might try more dwarf cichlids, that's a nice idea.

Lol then you're already prepared! Weird. My BN does the algae cleaning in my planted 55. My L114 and red loricaria...not so much.

I grew out roseline sharks in mine for a while. They are always moving and add great color! My school of 6 grew from 1" to 5" in about a year and made me $100 profit.

I'm looking to do a colony of peacock gudgeons in the future, but lately I've been on a discus kick.

I also like to keep bosemani rainbowfish in general. They don't reach their full color potential for about 2 years, but after that....wow...

And I'll try to think of some more

To be honest I have absolutely no idea lol! I got a bit of it from my sister and it has really taken hold. The taller stems are a different kind of plant than the shorter ones. I have 6 or 7 or more different kinds of plants / moss in there, but I really only know what a couple of them are, being anubius and a moss ball that is lost in there somewhere.

I do like the idea of rainbows or redline torpedos, I have had both in the past and really like them. Not oddballs, but active and colourful.
