So I bought a 75 gallon 4 foot long tank the other day and I'm not too sure what I want to do with it fish wise I have another small tank with columbian sharks and convicts in it right now I'm not sure I want either in this big tank at this point in time as it may limit my options the convicts are very cheap and fairly aggressive and one of my 2 sharks seems weak I know they need to be in a brackish or saltwater tank eventually from what I read and I'm not sure i am prepared to do that with my new big tank(to me maybe not to some of you) but I'm not sure what I want I'd like some aggressive fish but I'd like to have a couple different types I have ideas in my head such as arowanas and peacock bass, or piranhas and Oscars, or an emporer id shark I had one before and can easily get my hands on more but I woke up one morning and it was dead so i wasn't too sure what to think it might be a more difficult fish to keep, maybe a FW barracuda or shovelnose catfish or even something native like a bass ...this tank is in the middle of the room has no background but some real plants, rocks and what not blue gravel bottom I would prefer something that wouldn't outgrow the tank too quick and if they were attractive or colorful fish i wouldn't be a terrible thing
Only requirements
Must be a fish that will eat other fish but be able to live with its roommates
must be able to spend a good few years in my 75 gallon 4 foot long tank
must be a fairly easy to purchase fish
must be able to live healthy in fresh water permanently

Several of the Polypterus species would be a great choice for the bottom dweller picks, upper jaw species in particular. I'd go for a nice delhezi; not overly large, very attractive, not too pricey & fairly active for a bichir. Also will munch smaller fish if given the chance
