I got this fish in a lfs and the guy working there told me it's a severum.
I did'nt think so but for 9.99 price of the severum i took it home.
I tried my best on this and other internet sites to identify it.
My best is that it's dovii.
I learned that there is five types of parachromis.
the only other closest one is the false something or other.
Any way learning all this there was one other of the same type of fish still at the store, the smaller one.
So being more knowledgeable about parachromis and cichlids I told the guy working this day that last week I bought a larger size of the same fish for 9.99.
He said there were no other fish like that and this fish is called lukanani and it's 19.99.
So I did my dollar cost averaging and bought the smaller parachromis for average 15.00 dollars each.
That's my story of how I acquired these two fish.
002.JPGI would really like to know what exactly I have.
Again my guess is dovii.
I don't know if costa rican or nicaraguen if they are dovii.
I will post pictures please assist if you have parachromis experience. thanks...:)

It's 100% Loisellei alright, look at the underbite. When it settles in, it will get a silver coloration across the upper portion of it's body. That's a great pickup.

Cool thats what I thought. Its a nice buy, something that seldom comes up in Britain in my experience.

Well, you will never know "exactly" what is it, just an educated guess, especially when buying from a source that labels it first a severum and then uses the common hawaiian name for peacock bass to describe it. Looks loiselli, but whose to know?

Loiselli.
