I have two plecos (a 6 inch common and a 12inch but I am not sure the type) in my 300g tank, the tank is 31 inches deep with a built in overflow. I have been reading that i have not been feeding them properly as I have only been giving them algae wafers, cucumber, shrimp pellets and blood worms.

The problem I am having is when I put food on the clip they brake it off and I really dont want it to block my overflow.

So what can I feed them that will sink?

I slice a zuchinni lenghtwise and attach it to a stone with twistwire.
I use a stone i used to have for carp tackle, it has a tiny ring attached to one end.
Looks natural, works fine.
Any remains will indeed flow into my owerflow, but never clogges the whole exit.
Your pleco diet seems fine and algae wafers sink, don't they?

stick a fork in it. let pleco eat food. take fork out.

edit: make sure its not a plastic fork
