i want a plec that wont grow bigger than 3-4 inches for a 5gal planted which currently only have 1 oto and 2 small shrimps in it .theres this plec labled as 'red lizard' and it looks cool .i was wondering if that would be what i am looking for.

Red lizard is probably 99% a L10a, this it (http://www.planetcatfish.com/catelog/species.php?species_id=747)? It'll get to be on the big size of your spec...

there are about 100+ species in your size range (admitadly not all are widely available or cheap but...). Basically you have an awful lot of choice. Many of them will be in the Ancistrus, Chaetostoma, Hypancistrus and (small) Panaque genus.

Ancistrus http://www.planetcatfish.com/catelog/genus.php?genus_id=4#751
Chaetostoma http://www.planetcatfish.com/catelog/genus.php?genus_id=26#407
Hypancistrus http://www.planetcatfish.com/catelog/genus.php?genus_id=7#229
Panaque http://www.planetcatfish.com/catelog/genus.php?genus_id=27#126

There are also otos, which would probably be a better choice than any of the above. http://www.planetcatfish.com/catelog/genus.php?genus_id=49#1350

hmm no ive had enough of otos iam giving them to my friend with a tank full of algae to munch on. i should be rescaping my tank allitle and add drift wood in it then maybe a 'red lizard' .a 2" specimen should be fine with a dat which is less than an inch for a year or two right?

If it is an L010a, or red lizard loricaria (very thin and long, orangish color) then they are not something I'd keep with something like a dat. They are best in placid community tanks, or species only tanks.

Wouldnt keep it with the dat. Def. not a year.

LOL wyldfya beat me to it! DRAW!

They are fun, but I have yet to hear of any spawns that have successfully been raised to fry. But there are a lot of us working on it.

I've got a 3" L-168 awesome fish gorgeus patterns.

Heres a picture of it:

It contrasts well with my Dats: :)

Bog, your fish 'recommendation' far exceeds the desires of the author of this thread.

Sorry to sound retarded, but can you keep a dat in a 5?
And wouldn't almost ANY plec create too much bioload for a 5 in the long run?

Honestly asking...oh, and sorry for the hijack!
