what pleco ?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I would suggest a stingray pleco, its not actually a pleco, its a loach and it's true name is butterfly loach but you will more commonly see them listed as stingray pleco. They do very well in cold flowing waters just like goldfish and will do very well. Almost all other plecos come from the amazon and require warm water which goldfish do not do well in.

bristlenose/bushynose, or common [commons will tolerate almost any tank, especially since goldfish are cold water, you don't want something too sensitive]

Do not keep commons or sailfins with your goldfish, they will try to attack and eat the slime coat.

I keep Panaques with my goldfish (i am currently trying to get rid of the Ranchus/Lionhead)

Royal Panaque
L002
L104
an unknown Whiptail specie
Peppermint Bristlenoses.

Alright thanks. O the tank is a 60 gallon and the temp. is 75 degrees

75 degrees is warm enough for a rubber lip pleco and they only get to be about 6 inches where as common plecos and bristlenose plecos and lots of others can get pretty big .

I've got a Green Phantom plec (L200) with 3 Goldfish in a 100 gal. He's wonderful, minds his own business and they all like the same temps and same food.
I used to have my 2 Royal Panaques in that tank with the Goldfish, they were wonderful, too. And unknown to a lot of people-Royal Panaques like temps from 73-86, a huge range. I wouldnt keep a common plec with them though (as the others said). Commons are too big, too active and too pushy with food. Plus they've been known to attach to the Goldfish's slimecoat and the Goldfish can't shake them off.
