I'm just curious...kind of taking this from another thread. I rarely see anything too exciting. I know if they were more common, they wouldn't be as exciting to find, but it would be nice to see some different faces around.

I've been at my job for a year...I order fish, browse the wholesale lists every week. The only plecos that are "common" here are commons, gibbiceps, clowns, ancistrus, rubberlips, gold nuggets, and royals. Occasionally I see adonis, some sort of banded pleco, "false zebras", mangos, blue phantoms...that's about it. Have you guys spotted anything interesting recently?

in terms of regular LFS stock, not really. gold nuggets are illegal here and im pretty sure phantoms are too. bleagh.

commons
bushynose
chocolate
sailfins
royals

^those sum up what i usually see. we have an importer that brings the heat ;) almost scored an L95 orange cheek from him. wish i did but i think it was like 300 dollars..

heh.

p. pardalis as "commons" mostly. petsmart carries "hi fin spotted" which is their fancy term for gibbiceps, which by the way only require a tank capacity of 20+ gallons :ROFL:they also carry rubberlips, BNP, and a couple albino "common" varieties. some of the real lfs occasionally get some fancy ones like green and blue phantoms, orange seams, clowns, some royal species, peppermint (which are usually labeled as white or gold spot plecos) and the large L-095 i spotted recently (see other thread).

I see L-114's L333's mega ancitirus, whiptails, sultans and an oocasional L-25. My LFS is a pleco guru. Ask anybody in Southeastern lower Michigan.

That sucks all we get around my area are P. pardalis and P. gibbiceps and the occassional albino chocolate pleco. No royals no clowns. I was amazed when 3 P. joselimaianus sneaked in with a shippment at the walmart I work at.
