I just switched my 210 gallon aquarium to sand. I saw somewhere you could use powerheads to circulate water over the sand to keep fish waste from settling and direct it towards the filter intakes. My filter intakes are in the middle of the tank. I want to run 2 korila type powerheads. One on each end pushing the stuff towards the filter intakes. I'm just curious what gph would be suggested and how far off the bottom to have the powerheads. I'm running an fx5, xp4, and hydro v if you need to know. Also adding 2 aquaclear 110s and maybe a couple more sponge filters at the end of the month.

Thanks.

It's basically trial and error. You'll probably have to adjust it so you get flow going over the top without causing a sandstorm. I know some people try to angle powerhead streams off the glass, basically "bounce" it off glass to take some of pressure out of it.

Never ever buy a juwel powerhead, if you own a juwel tank then get another straight away because it will break.

Thanks. Yeah I figured it'd be trial and error. Just thought someone might've had a similar setup. It's play sand so it might be hard to keep down. I have one of those cheap powerheads from walmart that doesn't seem to blow the sand up. I'd like the korilia type so they won't suck up sand and stop.
