I'm making an over-sump filter for small 26g tank, and I need a water pump. What do you guys recommend? A small submersible seems like the best option, but as always, ask here 1st. I can't have anything too powerful, as this tank is for breeding Mollys and Swordtails.

Side question, is there anything I can do to improve my HOB's performance while I'm making this over-sump? I already have multiple cartridge pads, sponge, and added Bio-balls. I'm putting some lucky bamboo into the back of it soon as well... just gotta take the time to measure and cut the hole, and so on. My little fishies are breeding so fast that its over stocking my tank and the water quality is going down hill fast. Mind you, this is also a planted tank.

Thanks in advance

No one has any experience with submersible pumps? No good bad ugly horror stories?

That pump is not self priming... does that make any difference at all when submersed?

Nice idea with the pre-filter... sure would save a few babies!

If a pump is under water it IS primed...;)

not just to save some babies, it will do that as well, but to protect the impeller and bushings from abrasives, that it will be picking up and pumping, if you do not have something in the way of a prefilter...
