Ill be getting ready to run my 220 pretty soon and i was wondering what pump should i use on my sump. Here in nova scotia the power is pretty expensive so i tought of the laguna Max-Flo 2000 pond pump. Any body have any good or bad experience with them? Or any other pump to propose?

Thanks

I think the Lagunas are a great choice. The model you get depends on the size of your overflows and how much turnover you are looking for. How large are your drains?

I'm running the Max Flo 4200 model and I really like it; it's quiet and efficient for how much water it moves.

Reeflo Dart/Barracuda Hybrid. 2600gph or change it to 3600gph with the supplied impeller. Avg. wattage, 98w, max 108. Virtually silent. It is an external pump only. I also like the Lifegard QuietOne Pro series. I have a 6000 that puts 1200gph into the tank and is super quiet, submersible or external.

Another great pump that doesn't get alot of attention is the reef octopus water blaster pump. Check it out. They get alot of use and positive reviews on some of the reef forums. Great flow with very little wattage used.

If you end up going with the Max Flo 2000, I would put a ball valve on your return because it might overwhelm your overflows...you'll probably have to valve it back a little.

Dual 1" overflows should give you around 1,200GPH, but the Max Flo 2000 does 1,373GPH @ 6' of head pressure.

Hey Al, Laguna should start paying us!
Hands down the most efficient and quietest pump I've ran.
