What circulation pumps are being used now, setting up a new tank. Ive been away for a while tech changes rapidly......

Going to keep sump in the basement and run pipes upstairs to the display tank.

Been researching, but nothing speaks more than personal experience. Let me hear your feedback .

I'm looking to only run about 4x to 6x flow on a 150 gal........
approx head height 16' to 19'
lowest wattage possible to achieve desired results.

Thank you......

I have a reeflo hammerhead and still think they are great for high head situations. If someone knows an alternative to reeflo, I'd love to know also.
Thank you for the reply , direct drive might be the way to go was hoping tech improved for a more energy efficient pump I believe the hammerhead pulls 300 watts approx.

That is a fair chunk of head height to contend with. Is there a reason why you need your sump in the basement, why not under your tank in the same room? Modern sumps can be very quiet if it's a noise issue.

Easier to maintain, changing filter socks, under the stand limits the size of the sump....as most stands are too short, with small doors.

I have a couple Little Giant mag drive external pumps that do a great job for high head pressure situations.

I mostly use in the stand sumps so I use the modern low head rated DC pumps... Jebao to be specific. I doubt Jebao makes a DC pump with the head pressure you will need.
