What SA combination would you keep in a standard 240?

I've been keeping mpimbwe/moba frontsa together in my 240 for quite sometime now and to be honest I've been getting a little bored. I really want to do a community sort of tank. any recommendations?

I would keep Discus, some type of big lugubris pike like marmorata, and festivums. Funny combo I know, but it would work.

How about some geo altifrons or geo Red Heads, some severum, Aequidens patricki or Aequidens diadema or both, some fancy plecos and about 100 bleeding heart tetras.

I would over stock with aggressive CA/SA. Keep up the water changes and check your water parameters often.

Green Terrors, Jaguars, Jack Dempseys, Red Devils, Midas, Dovii, and even a Flower Horn.

You could keep a Arrowana to keep the top of your tank busy.

Sprinkle in a Green Phantom Pleco, Pineapple Pleco, and Gold Nugget Pleco.

If you need some dither fish....Silver Dollars make for an awesome addition.

Just a dream of mine if I ever get that size tank. Grow em out together and hope that because the over stock, that the aggression will be spread through out the tank. You got lots of room for good hiding spots in case any fish needs a break.

Don't flame...lots of beautiful CA/SA agressive tanks work because of the over stock.

More interesting, in my opinion, too. I see some of these huge tanks with two or three cichlids in it because the owner is afraid to overstock, and think they look lifeless and dull. I don't consider myself to be overstocked in a 125, but some probably would.

Keep in mind with a 240, you'd want the footprint that is eight feet long. I've seen some that are 72 inches and that doesn't provide that much additional space (when you're talking most cichlids) than a 125, also six-foot long. It gives larger fish more turning room, more depth, but that's about it.

It's a standard 240 8'x2'x2'... I like the idea of an overstocked aggressive tank, however, I don't have much experience with any of those fish and I don't want any of my fish to get picked on. I also have 12 large frontosa in my tank, two of em 14"+, (they are going to go if I find a new stocking list I like) and like I said before it got kinda boring. I'm afraid that might happen with 10 or so different large SAs.

Maybe you want to stick with Africans and go with multiple haps, peacocks and what not. You'd get more activity, more color, more fish. I think you could put a lot of medium sized SA/CAs in there though. Firemouths, Salvinis, Rainbows, Acaras, Convicts (not one of my favorites, but...), the list goes on and on.

what kind of lightening do you think I would need in order to make it a planted tank? it is pretty much enclosed so I worry about warping the plexi? also i don't want my electric going thru the roof you know what i mean
