For years I have kept American Cichlids and still do but now I am starting an African Cichild tank in a 75gal. What schooling fish would work with an African set-up? My stock is still being built. So far I have a Nyereri, Red Peacock, and a very small blue cichlid that was in an assorted cichlid tank.

Basically anything they cant eat would be my guess. Maybe some rainbow fish or something of that size.

I have a few African Acei they school around the tank most of the time. They are blue with yellow fins and tail. Quite colorful .

Are there any African schooling fish other than cichlids that would work? I want the tank to be strictly african species. I think having an African tank with other small fish would look great.

x2 for the Psuedotropheus "Acei"

X3. I have five in a quarentine tank right now and they are always swimming together, and they actually use the top half of the tank, an odd behaviour for mbuna.

How many African Cichlids with a 4-5" max length could I house in a 75gal? Should I focus on keeping groups of three or four for each species? I have three cichlids so far and I would like to provide them with several more of their kind. I just don't want to go overboard with the stocking.

If you decide to go with a Tanganikan theme you could use a Cyprichromis sp. There are quite a few different color types to choose from, and they will go with almost all tangs.

*These will not go well with your current African stock list.
