What set up do i do with my Jaguar cichlid fry

Hey everyone i was just wondering about what type of aquarium set up you should use to keep most of the fry living. I do have a couple of survivers but i would love to know how to keep most of them?? The set up i have got them in now is to take the babies when there free swimming and put them in a 2 ft fishtank with a smaller filter. Im not sure when to start feeding them because the food just seems to sit there till it becomes deadly to the fish and kills a lot of them anyone thats done this before or got any good advice please give your suggestions

Try putting a sponge filter in the parents tank, and then transferring it to the fry tank when it gets some bio in it. This will keep the fry from getting caught up in a normal filter intake. As far as feeding, vacuum up any uneaten food as soon as they are done eating.
