I thought this would be a good place to ask this question.
Yesterday, when I got home I found my neighbor standing near a fence near my residence. Sitting on the fence next to him was an absolutely beautiful full grown African Grey parrot. It didnt belong to anyone he knew. The parrot was friendly enough to eat out of our hands, and drink from a water bottle, but seemed like he didnt want to be handled. I have wanted one of these guys for soo long, but I have nowhere to keep him, (cage) I may even know who the owner is. (theres a guy who walks around the neighborhood with an african grey on his shoulder) I didnt want to freak the bird out, so I left it alone. Im not sure if this bird will make it on its own, as it was, the bird was lucky the neighborhood kids didnt find him first. Should I have made more of an effort to catch the bird?? No it didnt say one word to anyone.

i would have tried to catch it and make a temporary home for him. and try to find the owner. someone out there is probably sad that there bird is gone. (those birds are not cheep)

and tend to be life long friends

obviously a very tame pet. they're taught to step onto perch-like stick if you hold it in front of his feet :-(

or, animal control would probably help. owners often notify them of missing exotic birds.
he can't last long on the loose. hawks & falcons will get him, if not starvation or thirst.

since he was fed there, might possibly return if he's alive. set bowls out. & hang posters of seen parrot.

you don't need a cage or supplies to get it indoors. google parrot handling or get other help.

The first thing I tried was the perch like stick, it looked like that made him apprehensive with me. I would have brought him/her home if that worked. Thanks for the ideas guys, Ill be ready next time.. I think.

Hang posters where you've seen the guy walking with a parrot!
