What should i buy?

i'm currently looking for a winter car. A beater that will be dependable and with 4 wheel drive. I plan on not spending more then 2500 on the 4x4. so I was thinking an older jeep cherokee or grand cherokee. But a small truck would be cool too. I was wondering what everyone elses opinions are. what are some things to watch out for cars to avoid etc?

Out of those 2 the Cherokee with 4.0 straight six would be the better option.

yeah, i was thinking that. i was also thinking buying something for like 15 to 18 hundred and then throwing a few hundred into on maintenance stuff.

the best winter car I've ever had was also the worse.
'72 super beetle.
handled better than the 4wd's I've driven, but absolutely sucky heat.
