What should I do my fish eats my plants

The snails shells are from the live snails I feed them daily and the puffers eat daily more than 20 snails and they are always kept full.

In tank there are some small shrimps but I have seen the puffers bite on the empty leaves even when there is no shrimp on it. They do not do this on the other pants those plants that do not have large leaves . So this could be a genetic behaviour for these fishes.

Well, each fish has their own personality so maybe yours just loves anubias or maybe you’re right and it’s their genetic predisposition to eat anubias plants. I have no clue. Both schoutedeni and anubias come from the same river basin so maybe it’s part of their diet?

Personally, I’ve kept 14 of them in 2 separate groups with various plants, including anubias, and they only made holes when trying to catch something.

My puffers do it occasionally, maybe you can do like me and double down. Add so many plants that the couple of bites they occasionally take are distributed so that you don't have a single mangled looking plant. Also make sure you don't have a potassium deficiency. I have 11 Spotted Congos in this tank and overall the plants are fine.

Because I keep cichlids thatt eat plants, but love plants, I keeps 2tanks/sumps.
One for cichlids (the plant eaters) and with a separate connected tank(sump for the plants.

Sometimes either you go with reality, and its difficult to buck it. so
Sometimes you can´t have it both ways in the same tank

With this system, the cichlids get the benafit of the nitrate consuming needs and ability of the plants, and i get to enjoys the beauty of them too, but unmolested, by vegetaraians, or pickers.
Nitrate averages undetectable with it.
