Yesterday i bought a 5" RTC and put him in my tank with my other fishes. But till now no one,who came 2 see my new fish could see him except me since most of the time he is hiding under bog wood. At yesterday night only 2 times he came out under that wood when the lights was off but as soon as i turned on the light he gone under that wood and every time he is sitting there. He is not eating when i feed my other fishes. I feed my fishes live feeders, prawns, pellets. Should it ok 4 my RTC? And as per his hiding is concern should i remove that wood 2 prevent his hiding?

Leave the lights off and leave the little guy alone for a few days. Fish can get stressed during a move, and he just has to get used to his new surroundings. He will get braver and you will see him more often once he gets use to the new place. But until then, dont cause him anymore stress... drop some food nearby where he's hiding and leave the lights off, and just be patient.

I will do what u said.......but i am afraid since he is not eating when i feed my fishes he becomes hungry and can eat my 1 little oscar as sometimes she is moving too close from that hiding place since she doesn't aware about his behavior.........

its normal pretty soon you will be hand feeding it in no time but if you want you can move the wood so you can see him more i would

How little is the oscar? If theres anything in the tank that can fit in your RTC's mouth, it will become a meal sooner or later. If your worried about the rtc eating, place some shrimp close to its head, but its not going to eat if you continue to bug it too much. Each fish is different but it should start to come out in a day or two, but it may take longer.

Well, it's great 2 know about hand feeding. Yes, i lift up that wood little bit and place it above some stones.......so he is visible now.......:)

i got myself a rtcxtsn last thersday. he did the same thing as your rtc did... went under the wood so i just left him. the first time i saw him was satday night after lights out swimming around the tank. i take it he was looking for food... i tryed him on a bit of shrimp and he loved it. after that i wanted to get a better look at him so tryed with the light on . and what do you know back under the wood.. i dont know about you but i cant see that well in the dark. so i went about fixing a small light in to the lid to view him at night.. tryed it out last night and it works fine it dont bother him at all. but hay all fish come out in there own time good luck with your rtc....

Probably wont be able to eat the oscar yet... but may in a month or two... atleast oscars have a very fast growth rate as well, so they may stay pretty even for a while... They are common tank mates on this site so its really hard to say what may happen.
I have my rtc and my rcxtsn hybrid (both around 6") in with my 7.5" and 9" oscar and they work well together...
